Katey Sagal Bio

Catherine Louise Sagal, better known as Katey Sagal is an American actress and singer who was born on January 19, 1954 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. After studying voice and acting at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California, she sang for the group The Group with No Name before meeting Gene Simmons and becoming his backup recording singer. In 1985, she was discovered by a talent agent while she was doing a musical and immediately cast her as Joe Tucker in Mary (1985). That became a turning point for her and she decided to pursue acting instead. By 1987, she appeared as Peg Bundy on Married… with Children. With the show achieving immense popularity across the country, Sagal became a household name. The show also gave her four Golden Globes nominations (1991, 1992, 1993, 1994). After it ended in 1997, Sagal has appeared on different projects, such as Futurama (an animated series) and Sons of Anarchy (where she received her first Golden Globes in 2011).
