Stella Meghie was born on January 1, 1984 in Ontario, Canada. Up until 2009, Stella worked in public relations for the fashion industry in New York. Finally deciding to quit and follow her true fashion in film, she joined the University of Westminster for an MA in screenwriting. While at school she completed and edited the script for Jean Of The Joneses, her debut film, but didn’t have the backing and funding to produce it until 2016. The movie was released and received positively at the SXSW Film Festival in 2016. She earned the Tony Cox Award for Screenwriting in the same year. She directed the well-received Everything, Everything (2017). She is viewed as one the most promising young black voices in Hollywood on a mission willing to tell the true story of black people outside Hollywood’s usual stereotypes.
