Vanessa Bell Calloway is an American actress, born on March 20, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. He is best known for her roles in several movies including Coming to America, Crimson Tide, Daylight, and What’s Love Got to Do with It. She has been nominated for more than 5 NAACP Image Awards throughout her career.
She started out as a dancer and has appeared in the initial Broadway production of Dreamgirls. She has been trained by George Faison, Otis Sallid, and Alvin Ailey. Vanessa has attended Howard University in Washington, D.C., and belonged to the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Before becoming popular in the film industry, she had minor roles on several TV series including All My Children in 1985, and Days of Our Lives in 1988. Other popular TV shows she has appeared in include Equal Justice, Dream On, Rhythm & Blues, Under One Roof, Orleans, The District, Hawthrone starring Jada Pinkett Smith, and many more. She has also been part of the popular TV show Shameless starring Emmy Rossum and William H. Macy, and the TV series Saints & Sinners in which she stars alongside Clifton Powell.
