Wale the Sage is an American rapper who was born and raised in Nigeria. He was the first member of his family who came to America when he left to study at Western Kentucky University. This is when he was introduced to J.Cole, Nas, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and other artists. In 2019, he released the song, Family Ties which spoke about his difficult life growing up. The track set the tone for his career and was followed by a series of tracks that showed his dexterity with music and lyrics. When one of his songs, ‘Bleue’ became popular on social media, it led to more than 8 million streams on Spotify. This was the defining moment in his career which earned him a record deal with Pick Six Records. Wales has a unique style to his music which showcases his determination and positivity. The voice layering is subtle with a piece of wonderful music set up, making his songs stand out from the rest.
