The Waterboys Bio
The Waterboys is a Scottish Celtic-influenced rock band formed in 1983 in Edinburgh by singer and songwriter Mike Scott. The band has endured a four decades musical career with a highñy changing lineup. After their self-titled debut in 1983, the band achieved some fame with the 1985-released This Is the Sea, containing the hit single “The Whole of the Moon”. The critically acclaimed Fisherman’s Blues went out in 1988 with modest success, and by 1993 the band was reaching U.K.’s Top 30 with full-length album Dream Harder. Mike Scott kept on experimenting with several musical orientations and in 2003 the LP Universal Hall was recorded at an authentic Scottish commune. They release a 2011 album, An Appointment with Mr. Yeats, where the band put W.B. Yeats’ poetry to music, adapting to a rock format. The group has released more than 15 records between its inception and 2020.
