Christopher O’Dowd was born on October 9, 1979 in Boyle, Ireland. He is a well-known comedy actor who studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He played small roles beginning in 2003 but did not start to gain popularity until his role as Brenden in The Clinic, which ran from 2003 to 2005.
Chris is probably best known for his main role on The IT Crowd, which ran on Channel 4 in the UK from 2006 to 2013 and featured several other famous UK actors including Katherine Parkinson. He has also appeared in the American drama Girls and he played Dr. Cockroach in the animation series Monsters vs. Aliens (2013 – 2014). He also narrated the animated series Puffin Rock in 2015.
He has been nominated for high-profile awards including BAFTA Awards in 2012, 2014, and 2015. The 2011 film Bridesmaids also landed him several nominations and awards for his role alongside well-known actresses including Maya Rudolph and Melissa McCarthy. His “wicked” sense of humor continues to gain him roles in productions, and he has several projects he is working on now.
