Lance Briggs was born on November 12, 1980, in Los Angeles, California. His football career started during his high school years in Elk Grove High School in Elk Grove, California. He continued his playing football into during his university years. He finished his college career with 308 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and three interceptions.
He started his professional football career by playing as linebacker for the Chicago Bears in 2003. Briggs remained with the Bears for his 12-year professional career before retiring in 2014. Briggs was a third round draft pick by the Bears during the 2003 NFL Draft. He played 173 games during his time with the Bears. In 2015, after being placed on the Bear’s injury reserve list due to a groin injury he sustained against the Detroit Lions, he announced his retirement on September 2, 2015. Subsequently, he became a free agent but remained unsigned through the offseason.
