Rachelle Ferrell Bio

Rachelle Ferrell is an American vocalist and musician born in Berwyn, Pennsylvania on May 21, 1964. She is best known for her contemporary jazz music, but has also had success singing pop, gospel, classical and R&B music. She started singing at 6 years old and trained herself to have a six octave range. She also learned to play the violin and piano. She went to college at Berklee College Music. She sang backup vocals for Patti LaBelle, George Dike, Vanessa Williams, and Lou Rawls from 1975 to 1990. In 1990 she released her debut studio album titled Somethin’ Else and has since released the albums Rachelle Ferrell, First Instrument, Individuality (Can I Be Me?), and Live in Montreux 91-97. Three of her albums charted on the Billboard 200 albums chart and the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. Her self-titled album was certified gold by the RIAA.
