Eulaulah Donyll “Lalah” Hathaway was born on December 16, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois. Lalah is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, arranger and pianist. The popular soul singer Donny Hathaway is her mother. Lalah Hathaway graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. She started music in 1989 and sings R&B, soul, jazz, and gospel.
With over 20 years of music, she has won many awards including the Billboard/BET on Jazz Awards in 1999 – Mainstream Jazz Album “The Song Lives On”. She won 5 Grammys awards: in 2014 – Best R&B Performance “Something w/ Snarky Puppy”, in 2015 – Best Traditional R&B Performance , in 2016 – Best Traditional R&B Performance “Little Ghetto Boy”, in 2017 – Best Traditional R&B Performance “Angel”, and in 2017 – Best R&B Album “Lalah Hathaway Live”.
