Phillip Cocu is a former Dutch professional football player, born on October 29, 1970, in Eindhoven, Netherlands. He is known for playing for the Dutch club PSV, winning four Eredivisie titles, and the Spanish club Barcelona, winning the 1998-1999 La Liga. Phillip began playing youth soccer when he was 6 years old and played at amateur level with AFC '34 and DCS Zevenaar. Dick Advocaat signed him for PSV Eindhoven in 1995. He started playing internationally for the Netherlands the next year and played until 2006. He retired from active football in 2008 to become an assistant manager to the Dutch national team under manager Bert van Marwijk. The Dutch returned to PSV in 2009 as a youth assistant coach and was later appointed head coach in 2013. He also coached the Turkish team Fenerbahçe for four months, and Championship club Derby County.
