David Clennon

David Clennon Bio

David Clennon was born on May 10, 1943 in Waukegan, Illinois. He went to the University of Notre Dame and then the prestigious Yale School of Drama, where he became a part of their acting company. He has been cast in well-known productions; however, he has also turned down large roles due to his political and moral beliefs.
Clennon started off on Broadway, appearing in The Unseen Hand. The first film gig he landed was in The Paper Chase in 1973, and from there he continued to appear in productions alongside A-list celebrities such as Meryl Streep and Susan Sarandon. His first television role was in Rafferty, which was a popular CBS series in the late 1970’s. His arguably most notable role was that of Miles Dentrell on Thirtysomething, which premiered in 1987. He would later come back as Dentrell in the 1999 series Once and Again. His more TV recent roles include parts on House of Cards, Criminal Minds, and Weeds, along with his role in the movie Gone Girl in 2014.
Clennon has been quite successful despite turning down roles that could have been very lucrative for him. He starred in the films Bound for Glory, The Right Stuff, Coming Home, and Missing, which were all nominated for the Best Picture Oscar in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Clennon won the Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries or Television Film for his part in From the Earth to the Moon in 1998, and later won Guest Performer in a Comedy Series in 1993 for his role in HBO’s Dream On.
