Living Colour is a New-York-based funk fusion band with a venerable career. Their style is known for being a free mix of everything from metal to hip-hop; their first two charting singles, “Cult of Personality” and “Glamour Boys” (1988, 1989) could not be more different. Line-up is currently Corey Glover (vocals), Vernon Reid (guitar), Doug Wimbish (bass), and Will Calhoun (drums). Prior to this, Reid was the only member with experience, having played with the bands Defunkt and Public Enemy.
Living Colour is today associated more with the 1980s and their stars have faded somewhat, but they had a cult following throughout the past few decades. They’ve recently released “Shade” (2018), their first album in eight years. They won three MTV Music Awards in 1989 for the video “Cult of Personality” and won two Grammys in 1990 and 1991 for “Best Hard Rock Performance.”
