Formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2007, For King & Country is comprised of Australian-American brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone. They are the younger brothers of Christian recording artist and speaker Rebecca St. James, and the brothers-in-law of Jacob Fink, bassist for the band Foster the People. During high school, they did backing vocals for their sister before deciding in 2007 to perform as their own band. They began using the name “Joel&Luke”, which they later changed to “Austoville” and in 2008 they released a six song EP entitled A Tale of Two Towns. In 2009, they signed with Warner Music Group and changed their name to “For King & Country”, after a British battle cry.
In 2011, the brothers released For King & Country: The EP. Their song “Busted Heart (Hold On To Me)” was released as a single and went to #3 on Billboard’s Christian Songs chart. They released their debut album Crave on February 28, 2012 and it reached #2 on the iTunes top Christian & Gospel albums on its day of release. Their songs have been featured on Rehab with Dr Drew, The Vampire Diaries, and Drop Dead Diva.
In July of 2012, For King & Country headlined “The Proof of Your Love Tour “with Jason Castro and Dara Maclean as special guests and in 2014 they toured with the band Casting Crowns. They released their new album Run Wild. Live Free. Love Strong on September 16, 2014.
