Dominic Cooper is an English actor born in Greenwich, England on June 2, 1978. He is best known for his roles in the films Mamma Mia! and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and for his roles in the shows Preacher and Captain America: The First Avenger. Cooper made his debut in film, television, and theater in 2001. He made his debut in film in the movie From Hell and continued landing roles in the films Anazapta, Boudica, The History Boys, The Duchess, The Escapist, Freefall, An Education, Tamara Drewe, The Devil’s Double, Dead Man Down, Need for Speed, Missed You Already, The Lady in the Van, The Escape, Warcraft and more. He made his debut on television in the show The Infinite Worlds of H.G. Wells and has since had roles in the shows Band of Brothers, Down to Earth, Sense and Sensibility, Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond, Agent Carter, Preacher, and The Grand Tour. He made his theater debut in the play Mother Clap’s Molly House and has also had roles in the productions Caryl Churchill Events, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Call to Prayer, His Dark Materials, The History Boys, Phedre, and The Libertine. Throughout his career he has been nominated for several awards, including a Drama Desk Award, an Empire Award, a British Independent Film Award, a Satellite Award and others.
