Born on 25 May 1995, Rei Ami is a musically gifted Korean-born alt-pop singer and producer, who rose to prominence in 2019 with tracks such as "Dictator" and "Make It Mine."
She proceeded to make dark, daring pop over the next two years, building up to the release of her debut, Foil, in 2021.
Rei Ami was born in Seoul and relocated to the United States with her family when she was six years old. She began her musical training with piano and guitar as part of a strict Christian home, with her parents paying for her tutoring in the hopes that she would perform at church services.
While so-called "worldly" music was prohibited in the home, Ami was driven to explore a wide range of styles, with early influences ranging from Britney Spears to Michael Jackson.
