Squarepusher is the stage name for British multi-instrumental musician, songwriter and producer Thomas Jenkinson. He was born in Chelmsford, Essex, England on the 17th of January, 1975. He is the son of a jazz drummer, and so Jenkinson trained also as a drummer and bassist from a young age at the Chelsea College of Art and Design. In 1994, he released the debut EP “Cort ” soon followed by “Stereotype” during the same year. In 1996, he realized a variety of EPs and singles signing with different labels. Jenkinson became known mainly in those years with the release of the album “Music Is Rotted One Note” in 1997, in which he plays the keyboard, drums and bass. Jenkinson’s sound is characterized by being a progressive jazz influence with a sound drum and bass, breakcore and acid techno. Overall, since the beginning of his career, Jenkinson has released 14 studio albums.
