Aqib Talib is an American football player born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 13, 1986. He is currently a cornerback for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League. He attended Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas and lettered in football, track, and basketball. He was named Berner High School’s Defensive Back of the Year in his senior year of high school. He went on to play college football at the University of Kansas for the Kansas Jayhawks football team from 2005 to 2007. In 2008 he played in the 2008 Orange Bowl against Virginia Tech and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. On January 2008 he announced that he would not play his senior season and would enter the 2008 NFL Draft. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft, 20th overall. That year he signed a four-year contract with the Buccaneers for $14 million with $8 million guaranteed. In 2012 Talib was traded to the New England Patriots and played his first game with the team on November 18, 2012 against the Indianapolis Colts. In 2013 he signed a one-year contract with the Patriots for $4.86 million with $4.57 million guaranteed and a $3 million signing bonus. In 2014 Talib signed a six-year contract with the Denver Broncos for $57 million with $26 million guaranteed. He was traded by the Broncos in 2018 to the Los Angeles Rams where he continues to play to this day.
