Tobias Simpson Menzies is an English actor born in Hammersmith, London, England, on Mach 7, 1974. He is best know for his roles, Frank and Jonathan Black Jack, in Outlander, which earned him a Golden Globe Award nomination and Edmure Tully in the legendary series, Game of Thrones.
He lived his early years in London with his parents Peter and Gillian Menzies, who were teachers and radio presenters. Menzies attended the Perry Court Rudolf Steiner School, then proceeded to the Frensham Heights School before graduating with a BA Degree in Acting in 1998. He was a classmate of Hattie Morahan and Jim Sturges in high school.
After graduating from college in 1998, Menzies began his professional TV role, featuring in several TV series such casualty, Summer in the Suburbs and Midsomer Murders. He starred in many other TV series and movies in the following years, including the classics, Game of Thrones, and Netflix hit series The Crown.
To reward his fantastic talent, Menzies won several awards, including EWwy Awards (2015), Golden Globe Awards (2016), Screen Actors Guild Awards (2020 and 2021), Satellite Awards (2020) and Primetime Emmy Awards (2021), to mention just a few.
