Harvey Keitel was born on May 13, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York. Keitel’s first starring role was in Martin Scorsese’s Who’s That Knocking at My Door? (1967). This was the first of many movies the two would work on together. Other notable early roles include Charlie in Mean Streets (1973) and Sport in Taxi Driver (1976), both of which were played alongside Robert De Niro.
Throughout the 1980’s he played the role of many mobsters but it was his 1991 performance as Bugsy Siegel in Bugsy that earned him Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations.
Keitel was propelled to stardom playing Mr. White in Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs (1992). He is probably most famed for his role as Winston Wolfe in black comedy Pulp Fiction (1994). Since then he has appeared in many movies including National Treasure (2004) and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014).
He is currently one of the co-presidents of the organization, Actors Studio. He also recently reprised his role as Winston Wolfe in a series of UK TV commercials.
