Herb Alpert And Lani Hall Bio
Herb Alpert And Lani Hall are two well-known musicians who have created ample work together and were also married. Alpert is a performer, singer, and songwriter, who also created an Indie label that signed artists like Cat Stevens, The Carpenters, Liza Minnelli, Janet Jackson and The Police. His songwriting hits include “Wonderful World”.
He and Lani Hall first met when he signed Sergio Mendes & Brasil ’66 to his label A&M. She worked with Mendes for five years. In 1972, she embarked on a solo career, delivering 14 albums in English, Spanish and Portuguese, including “Es Facil Amar” which won a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Performance. She is also a producer.
Alpert and Hall married in 1974 and in 2007 they began working on music together alongside pianist and composer Bill Cantos, drummer and percussionist Michael Shapiro and the bassist Hussain Jiffry. In 2009 they released the album “Anything Goes” with Concord, and later a studio album, “I Feel You”.
