Kirk Jay is an American singer and songwriter born in Bay Minette, Alabama on July 1, 1996. He is best known for competing in the 2018 season of The Voice. Jay started his music career playing the drums at church and singing in the choir at five years old. In 2014 he met a music manager and performed for Teddy Gentry. By 2015 Jay was performing at open mics. Before competing on The Voice, Jay toured around the Southern United States with his band Kirk Jay & Funtry Funk. In 2018 he auditioned for the 15th season of The Voice with the song “Bless the Broken Road”, originally by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Jay was mentored by Blake Shelton and ended up coming in third place on the show.
