Kimberly Elise is an American film and television actress. She was born Kimberly Elise Trammel on the 17th of April, 1967, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S. She made her screen debut in the crime film “Set it Off” in 1996, starring alongside Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah and Vivica A. Fox. The movie became a box office success and her career took off. In 1997, she was cast in the Family channel television movie “The Ditchdigger's Daughters” for which she received critical acclaim and in 1997 she won the Best Supporting Actress in a Movie or Miniseries at the CableACE Awards. In 1998 she starred alongside Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover in the horror drama movie “1987”. For that performance she received a Chicago Film Critics Association Award for Most Promising Actress as well as a Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture. Her movie credits include movies such as “John Q.”, “The Manchurian Candidate”, “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” and “Death Wish”. In 2019 she appeared in the sci-fi movie “Ad Astra” alongside Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee Jones and Donald Sutherland.
