Born in Havana, Cuba, on March 29, 1975, Roberto Fonseca is a Cuban pianist who plays Jazz, Latin, and Afro-Cuban music. He began studying music at a young age, and when he was eight, he zoned in on piano. His first major performance came at the age of fifteen when he played piano at Havana's Jazz Plaza Festival. He has played at numerous international venues like the Sydney Opera House, Beacon Theatre in New York, Albert Hall in London, and Palais des Congrès in Paris. He has performed live with Rubén González, Cachito, Ibrahim Ferrer, Manuel Galbán, and Fatoumata Diawara. His discography includes the singles Cubano Chant, Kachucha, Connection, Contradanza Del Espiritu, and the albums ABUC, Yo, At Home, and Yesun. He received a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Jazz Album.
