BoomBox is a rock band formed in 2004 in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, USA. Their genres of music include rock & roll, blues, vintage psychedelic, house, and funk. They are associated with Heart of Gold Records. The band consists of Russ Randolph (producer, DJ) and Zion Rock Godchaux (singer, songwriter, guitarist) formed the band. Kinsman MacKay joined after Russ left.
The band added a horn section, The BackBeat Brass, led by Nic Chaffee and Robbie Covacevich, on select performances. Their signature sound is rooted in a back-beat-driven style, wrapped around smooth vocals and original lyrics. BoomBox blends several genres to create songs that appeal to a broad audience. They released their first studio album, Visions of Backbeat, in 2005.
BoomBox featured Donna Jean in the single Right Around Two, released in June 2017. They released the Western Voodoo album on October 19, 2018. The band has released several albums, including Downriverelectric (2010), Filling in the Color (2014), Bits & Pieces (2016), and Ghost Notes (2020).
