The Ex Bio

The Ex is a Dutch rock band that was formed by guitarist Terrie Hessels, vocalist G.W. Sok, drummer Geurt, and bassist René, in 1979, in Amsterdam. Their debut album was released in 1980, and it was titled “Disturbing Domestic Peace”. This album was followed three years later by two new records, titled “Tumult” and “Blueprints for a Blackout”, besides the release of a single box, “Dignity of Labour” and an EP, titled “Gonna Rob the Spermbank”. In 1988, the group created their own Ex label, and they released a compilation of their three Peel Sessions, “Hands Up! You’re Free”. In 1991, they released the album “Scrabbling at the Lock”, followed two years later by “And the Weathermen Shrug Their Shoulders”. In 1995, they released “Instant”, which was a double CD of improvisational material, and the album “Mudbird Shivers”. In 1998, The Ex released “Alternators”, which was followed by the “Spanish Revolution” two years later.
