Obadiah Richard "Obi" Toppin Jr. (born March 4, 1998) is a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association for the New York Knicks (NBA). He was a power forward for the Dayton Flyers throughout his college career.
Toppin, a resident of New York City, was born in the borough of Brooklyn and attended Ossining High School. He played a postgraduate season at Mt. Zion Preparatory School in Maryland after receiving no NCAA Division I invitations.
Toppin was selected Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year as a freshman for the Dayton Flyers after leading the team in scoring. Toppin declared for the 2020 NBA draft after his college season, and the New York Knicks picked him with the eighth overall choice.
