Singer/songwriter and actress Amy Grant was born on November 25, 1960. Her musical beginnings can be traced back to her high school years, when she wrote and performed her first song for her classmates. She was quickly discovered and signed to Word Records, through whom she released her debut album Amy Grant in 1978. She followed this initial success with her sophomore album My Father’s Eyes, yet it was not until 1982 that she put out what is considered her breakthrough album, titled Age to Age. The single on the album El Shaddai was recognized as one of the Songs of the Century by the RIAA, and Amy Grant later won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Gospel Performance. The album was also the first Christian album to receive a Platinum certification. Between 1984 and 2013, Amy Grant would go on to release eleven albums in total, and would win six Grammy Awards as of 2006.
