Static-X is an American metal band formed in 1994. It originally consisted of vocalist/guitarist Wayne Static, drummer Ken Jay, guitarist and programmer Koichi Fukada, and bassist Tony Campos. In 1998 they made their full-length debut "Wisconsin Death Trip," which soon became platinum and a cult classic. After some lineup changes, in 2001 the band released "Machine." This time the album went gold, solidifying Static-X's stance in the heavy metal community. A single from the band's fifth album "Cannibal" reached Billboard's Top 40 in 2005. Their sixth album "Cult of Static" also charted high in the Top 20 in 2009. The band took a hiatus in 2014 after Wayne Static passed away, only to return to the studio in the late 2010s, in a project to create new material out of Static's unedited recordings. In 2020, the resulting album "Project Regeneration" dropped, with its main single "Hollow" reaching the 15th spot in the Top 15 electronica-dance chart.
