The Amity Affliction Bio

The Amity Affliction is an Australian post-hardcore band formed in Gympie, Queensland, Australia in 2002. They began touring Australia after releasing their 2007 EP “High Hopes”. The band would top the Australian ARIA charts with albums “Severed Ties” (2008), “Youngbloods” (2010), “Chasing Ghosts” (2012), “Let The Ocean Take Me” (2014), “This Could Be Heartbreak” (2016), and “Misery” (2018). In 2015, they released a documentary of their trajectory through a Youtube trailer, a DVD, and a double CD re-edition of “Let The Ocean Take Me”, along with unreleased material. After multiple European and U.S. tours, they went through some lineup changes, and in 2018 they consisted of founding member Ahren Stringer (bass and vocals), Joel Birch (lead vocals), Dan Brown (rhythm guitar), and Joe Longboardi (drums).
