Natalie Anne Merchant was born on 26th October, 1963 in Jamestown, New York, United States. She is a singer, artist, performer, composer, lyricist, and songwriter. Pop and rock are her musical specialties, and her style is adult alternative pop/rock, contemporary singer/songwriter, alternative pop/rock, alternative/indie rock, and contemporary pop/rock. Before entering the world of music, she wanted to become a teacher, but meeting Robert Buck in 1981 changed her plans when she became the lead singer for 10,000 Maniacs.
