Bruce Cockburn Bio
Bruce Cockburn is a Canadian folk-rock singer-songwriter born in 1945 in Ottawa, Canada. In the 1970s he started writing Christian songs, and his national notoriety expanded to the U.S. with “Wondering Where the Lions Are” (1979). In the 1980’s he turned to social themes in his writing, and his single “If I Had a Rocket Launcher” got considerable airplay in MTV with an accompanying music video. After a string of more environmentally-oriented albums in the early 2000s, Cockburn issued 2011’s “Small Source of Comfort”, featuring the talents of violinist Jenny Scheinman, and took some time off. The artist came back in 2014 with a collection of his work titled “Rumours of Glory”. Three years later he assembled a team with Colin Linden, Ron Miles, and Maury Gauthier, and the long-player “Bone on Bone” was the result. 2017 also saw Cockburn enter the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.
