Avenged Sevenfold Bio

Avenged Sevenfold is a Progressive Metal band which debuted in 2001 with Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. Avenged Sevenfold (or A7X) began in 1999 when the members were still in high school in Huntington Beach, California. M. Shadows (vocals), Zacky Vengeance (guitar), Synyster Gates (guitar), the Reverend (drums), and Johnny Christ (bass) made an immediate impression with their violent blend of metal, hard rock, and punk-pop. Warner Bros. was drawn to the band’s assertive manner and released their breakthrough album, City of Evil, in June 2005. The album peaked at number 30 on the Billboard 200, due to the propelling success of the single “Bat Country.” Avenged Sevenfold shocked Rihanna, Chris Brown, and Panic! at the Disco in 2006 by winning the MTV video award for Best New Artist for the same hit. Avenged Sevenfold drummer James “The Rev” Sullivan was found dead in December 2009. The band’s fifth album, Nightmare, debuted at number one on the Billboard Top 200 list.
