Bryan Ferry Bio
Bryan Ferry is an English rock and pop singer/songwriter born in 1945 in Washington, England. In the 1970s he formed the art-rock band Roxy Music with bassist Graham Simpson, saxophonist Andy Mackay, guitarist Phil Manzanera, synth player Brian Eno, and drummer Paul Thompson. Ferry made a solo debut in 1973 with “These Foolish Things”, a collection of covers, and followed up with “Another Time, Another Place” (1974), and “Let’s Stick Together” (1976). His first original material album titled “In Your Mind” went out in 1977, and by the 1985 disbandment of Roxy Music, “Boys and Girls” also came out. In 1987 an album titled “Bete Noire” was issued, featuring Johnny Marr from The Smiths. Pulled from this album, the single “The Right Stuff” became a U.S. Top 40 hit. After “Taxi” (1993) and “Mamouna” (1994), Ferry went on tour promoting “As Time Goes By”, a pop standards collection LP. The 2000s came along with a Roxy Music reunion and a 2007 Bob Dylan cover solo album featuring Brian Eno and other former Roxy Music members. 2014’s LP “Avonmore” had Johnny Marr and Marcus Miller as guest acts, and 2019 saw Roxy Music entering the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
