Rebecca Adlington is a swimmer born in the United Kingdom, on February 17, 1989. She began swimming at age 3 and by 14, she was learning under the guidance of coach Bill Furniss. At the 2004 European Junior Championships, she showcased her potential by winning the 800m gold medal.
Rebecca gained prominence at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, winning two gold medals in the 400m and 800m freestyle events. She broke Janet Evans' 19-year-old world record for the 800m freestyle at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. She won gold in the 800 and silver in the 400m freestyle at the 2011 FINA Championships in Shanghai.
