Michael Middleton and Jason Moffat are the core members of the band Arab Strap. The Scottish post-rock duo makes music heavily scented with themes as sex and drugs, drunkenness, dying relationships, and bad jobs. They appeared in the British landscape in 1990 and for almost 2 decades they have been acclaimed. Before forming the band they both had their solo career; Moffat was playing drums and Kazoo and Middleton playing guitar under the moniker of The Laughing Stock. They banded in 1995. They made live performances and release their debut single The Week Never Starts Round Here in 1996. Midleton is the multi-instrumentalist while Moffat is the vocalist. In 2016, Arab Strap officially announced their disbandment stating they have made it has ‘run its course’. They released a compilation titled ‘Ten Years of Tears’ and went touring in the UK. In 2016, the band announced its reformation to celebrate its 20 year anniversary and in 2021 they have released As Days Get Dark, covering the theme of darkness and hopelessness.
