Basia Bulat is a Canadian folk singer-songwriter who plays the autoharp. That may not sound exciting, it may not put her in Led Zeppelin’s rank – but what if she’s really, really good at it? She is very good at it, and she can play a guitar as well, and might remind you of a Toronto Joni Mitchell. Basia’s mother was a music teacher, which is how you end up playing the autoharp. She had a radio station show while a student at University of Western Ontario, which was her break into show business.
Basia Bulat has released four studio albums as of this writing after snagging a contract with Rough Trade Records. Her most recent album, “Good Advice” (2016) was produced by Jim James, better known as the frontman for My Morning Jacket.
