Ernest Ranglin Bio
Born in June 19, 1932, Ernest Ranglin came from Manchester, Jamaica. His music mainly revolves in Caribbean genre, with mastery in using the guitar. As a young boy, Ranglin started playing the ukulele which then led to his learning of the guitar and performed live. He started off playing with Monty Alexander, in which the tandem played locally and in the Bahamas.
In 1964, Ernest Ranglin started to gain international fame when he performed at Ronnie Scott’s jazz club. He became a resident guitarist for nine months. He made solo records for the Island label. Ranglin played alongside fellow Jamaican singer Millie Small for the song “My Boy Lollipop.” In 1973, he was awarded the Order of Distinction by the Jamaican Government.
