Choir Boy is led by the songwriter Adam Klopp influenced by ‘80s pop and new wave inspirations. Adam Klopp has been the lead for various bands in Cleveland during his teens, and after leaving high school in Ohio to attend a college in Utah, he formed Choir Boy in the mid-2010s. Klopp enriched his numerous demos with a full band comprising Katrina Marie Ricks Peterson as the vocalist, Bret Meisenbach as the guitarist, Kyle Hooper as the keyboardist, Chaz Costello as the bass player, and Jacob Hall as the drummer. They released their first album Passive with Desire on Team Love Records in 2016. The band signed with Dais Records and had the release of the EP Sunday Light in 2017. They got their debut album reissued by the label including an expansive packaging in 2018. The Choir Boy went on a tour with bands like Cold Cave, Ceremony, and Snail Mail. In 2020, Klopp, Costello, the guitarist Michael Paulsen and the saxophonist/keyboardist Jeff Kleinman recorded the album Gathering Swans with Dais.
