Alma is a Finnish pop singer and songwriter. Alma-Sofia Miettinen, better known as Alma, was born in Kuopio, Finland, on January 17, 1996. She first gained notoriety during her time as a contestant on the seventh Finnish season of Idols where she outperformed thousands of other talents to be 5th place overall. Her songwriting gained her audiences with executives of international recording labels, and before too long she was signed to Sony/ATV Music Publishing in northern Europe and Universal Music Group internationally. As a songwriter, she has collaborated on projects with Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Charlie XCX, and Tove Lo, and on stage, she has performed with Dua Lipa, Zara Larsson, and MØ. Some of Alma’s hit songs are Karma, Dye My Hair, and Chasing Highs. She has received several awards such as an MTV Europe Music Award for Best Finnish Act in 2017, Emma Award for Best Newcomer in 2017, Emma Award for Best Song in 2018, and two Emma Awards for Export.
