Dame Prudence Margaret Leith, DBE, (born February 18, 1940 in Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa) is a South African chef, TV personality, and author. Popularly known as Prue Leith, Dame is famous for winning The Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year Award. She is also renowned as the first woman to be appointed to the British Railways Board in 1977.
In 1960, Prue started a business supplying high quality business lunches, which grew to become Leith's Good Food, the party and event caterer. In 1969, she opened her famous Michelin starred restaurant, Leith's. In 1975, she founded Leiths School of Food and Wine which trains amateur and professional chefs. In 2016, Prue appeared on television as one of the judges on the BBC's 'Great British Menu'. She also appeared on 'Best Of British' and The Great Celebrity Bake Off alongside Paul Hollywood, Noel Fielding, Matt Lucas, and Sandi Toksvig.
When she’s not on TV, Prue spends her time working with non-profit organizations. She has worked on several projects including The British Food Trust, Focus on Food, The Hoxton Apprentice, and 3Es Enterprises.
