Underoath is a Christian rock band founded in Tampa, Florida in 1997. The group’s currently consists of the following members: Aaron Gillespie, Christopher Dudley, Timothy McTague, Grant Brandell, James Smith, and Spencer Chamberlain. The group’s former members consist of founder Dallas Taylor, Octavio Fernandez, Matthew Clark, Corey Sterger, founder Luke Morton, Rey Anasco, Billy Notke, Kelly Scott Nunn, and Daniel Davison.
The group began by touring and playing local festivals in Florida. They were eventually picked up by the label Takehold Records. In 1999 they released their debut album entitled Act of Depression. In 2000 they followed up with the album Cries of the Past. Their record label was bought out and Underoath was signed to the label Solid State. In 2002 they released their new label debut called The Changing of Times. UnderOath then spent the next year touring extensively.
In 2004 the group released their next album called They’re Only Chasing Safety. The album was quickly certified gold. In 2006 Underoath released the album Define the Great Line. The album debut at number 2 on the Billboard 200. In 2013 the band released a compilation of their greatest hits called Anthology.
