DZ Deathrays are an Australian dance-punk duo comprised of Shane Parsons (vocals/guitar) and Simon Ridley (drums). Despite having only two members, the duo puts out a very well-rounded sound. The band cites as influences such punk and indie bands as Death From Above 1979, The Bronx, Justice, Sunn, and Lightning Bolt.
DZ Deathrays have played at festivals including Big Day Out, Parklife, Field Day, Sunset Sounds, and Playground Weekender, and have toured with bands including Crystal Castles, Ratatat and The View. Their most recent contract signing is with the Dine Alone label, and they have produced three albums to date. Reviewers on NME magazine and Q Magazine have given them high ratings, and BBC radio gave them some daytime airtime with their song “Gebbie Street.”
