Alana Smith is a skateboarder born on 20th October 2000 in Mesa, Arizona, United States. She started her skateboarding career at a pretty young age. She landed a 540 McTwist in 2013 and won silver at the X Games in Barcelona, becoming the youngest medalist in the history of the sports event. In 2015, she competed at the Girls Combi Pool Classic and finished in the first place. The following year, Smith and Vasconcellos became the brand ambassador of Eugene, Oregon board shop Tactics.
In 2021, she went to the 2020 Summer Olympics, finishing in last place in the women’s street skateboarding event. She became the first non-binary athlete to take part in the Olympics and her board was inscribed they/them. Like Elissa Steamer, Lyn-Z Hawkins, and Lacey Baker, Smith has helped to champion the growing trend of skateboarding being a sport for all.
