Chess player, content developer, and Twitch live streamer, Hikaru Nakamura was the youngest American Grandmaster of 2003. On December 9th, 1987, he was born in Hirakata, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. According to the 2015 FIDE ratings list, Nakamura was ranked No. 1 in the United States and No. 2 in the world. On the US Chess Federation rating list from August 2015, he is also rated first. Currently, Naples, Italy, and Sunrise, Florida, are where Hikaru spends the most of his time. He won the renowned Samford Chess Fellowship in 2005, was the National Open champion in 2007, and won the North American Open three times. In the World Olympiads in 2006 and 2008, he won an individual bronze medal. In the 2010 World Team Championship, when the United States finished second, he won a gold medal on the first board.
