Immortal Technique is the stage name of the American hip hop artist Felipe Andres Coronel. He was born in Lima, Peru on February 19, 1978. Immortal Technique is known for his controversial lyrics that cover global political issues. While in college he would sell his music on the streets of New York and compete in freestyle rap battles in the underground hip hop scene. In 2001 he released his debut studio album titled Revolutionary Vol. 1. He released his second studio album in 2003 titled Revolutionary Vol. 2. In 2008 he released his third studio album titled The 3rd World. The album charted at number 99 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, 36 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart, and 12 on the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart. He has made appearances on the documentaries Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap and This Revolution. In 2011 a documentary about Immortal Technique was released at the Harlem Film Festival.
