Seasick Steve Bio

Seasick Steve is the stage name of the American blues musician Steven Gene Wold. He was born in Oakland, California in 1941. At eight years old he was taught how to play guitar by the blues singer and musician K.C. Douglas. In the 1960’s he started touring and performing with other blues musicians. He has worked on and off as a session musician and studio engineer. In 2004 he released his first album titled Cheap with The Level Devils as his rhythm section. Steve released his debut solo album in 2006 titled Dog House Music with the label Bronzerat Records. He has since released the albums I Started Out with Nothing and I Still Got Most of It Left, Man from Another Time, You Can’t Teach an Old Dog New Tricks, Hubcap Music, Sonic Soul Surfer, Keepin’ the Horse Between Me and the Ground, and Can U Cook?. Wold won a Mojo Award for Best Breakthrough Act in 2007. In 2009 BBC Four broadcast a documentary about him titled Seasick Steve: Bringing It All Back Home.
