Lal Jose is a film director and producer born in Valapad, Kerala, India, on January 11, 1966. After graduating from NSS College in Ottapalam, he worked as an assistant director with Kamal in 16 films, including Pradeshika Vaarthakal and Krishnagudiyil Oru Pranayakalathu. He worked as an associate director for Thampy Kannamthanam, Harikumar, Vinayan, K. K. Haridas, and Nizar.
Lal made his directorial debut in 1998 with the film Oru Maravathoor Kanavu. He has collaborated with VidyaSagar, Sukumari, Salim Kumar, Sreeja Ravi, Biju Menon, Jagathy Sreekumar, and Suraj Venjaramoodu. His notable films include Chandranudikkunna Dikhil (1999), Meesa Madhavan (2002), Classmates (2006), Neelathaamara (2009), Diamond Necklace (2012), Ayalum Njanum Thammil (2012), and Vikramadithyan (2014).
Lal has appeared as a judge on Vivel Big Break, Nayika Nayakan, and Comedy Stars season 2. His production credits include Solomante Theneechakal, Panthaya Kozhi, and 1983. He has starred in Varane Avashyamund, Ente Mezhuthiri Athazhangal, and Ohm Shanthi Oshaana. Lal won NETPAC Award at the 2009 Kerala International Film Festival for Kerala Cafe.
