Gregg Gillis, the mastermind behind Girl Talk, was born on October 26, 1981, in Cleveland, Ohio. Though he initially started his career as an engineer, he abandoned that path in 2007 to pursue music and has made a name for himself as one of the most skilled mashup artists in the industry. 2002 saw the release of his debut LP titled Secret Diary, featuring samples from Jay-Z, The Jackson 5, Cyndi Lauper, and many others. Girl Talk would go on to release five more LPs, all of them made available on the website Illegal Art. Girl Talk stated that his fans could download the albums and pay for them what they wished. He later released Unstoppable in 2006, Night Ripper in 2006, Feed the Animals in 2008, and All Day in 2010. The album Feed the Animals was honored in 2008 as one of Time Magazine’s Top 10 Albums of 2008, landing at #4 on the list.
