Eli Manning Bio

Eli Manning is an American professional football player born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 3, 1981. He is currently a quarterback for the New York Giants of the National Football League. Manning played football in high school at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, Louisiana. He went on to play college football at The University of Mississippi for the Rebels football team from 2000 to 2003. While in college, Manning received a number of honors and awards, including, the Conerly Trophy, the Independence Bowl MVP, the Maxwell Award and more. In 2004 he was selected by the San Diego Chargers, first overall, in the 2004 NFL Draft. He was traded to the New York Giants for Philip Rivers and draft picks. Manning was signed to a six-year contract with the Giants for $45 million. He made his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. In 2005 Manning was named the starting quarterback after Kurt Warner left the Giants. He was signed to a six-year contract extension in 2009 for $97.5 million and in 2015 was signed to a four-year contract extension for $84 million. With the Giants, Manning has become a two-time Super Bowl champion and was named Super Bowl MVP in both games. Throughout his NFL career he has recorded 7,972 passing attempts, 4,804 passing completions, and 55,981 passing yards.
