Sugar Ray is an American rock band that was formed in 1986 in Newport Beach, California. The band’s members changed through the years and their current ones are Rodney Sheppard, Mark McGrath, Dean Butterworth, and Kristian Attard. Originally known for their heavier nu metal music, the band rose to mainstream prominence in 1997 with their more pop-influenced single "Fly." Following the success of the song, the band's style shifted dramatically to a more radio-friendly pop sound with their subsequent releases. 14:59, their best-selling album, was released in 1999 and featured popular singles "Every Morning," "Someday," and "When It's Over." This was followed by a self-titled album in 2001, which featured the single "When It's Over." The band would go on to release two more albums, In the Pursuit of Leisure (2003) and Music for Cougars (2009), though the albums and singles sold far less. The band kept touring into the 2010s. Little Yachty, the band's seventh studio album, was released in 2019, ten years after their previous album.
